Ready for off!

The final change has come through - Paypal have updated the name of the account to "Sheffield Samaritans" instead of "Mornington Crescent Books".

And they even apologised for it taking two days, despite it being a weekend!

Spoke to the Director (of Sheffield Samaritans) today and she was eager to hear how the site was coming along.

She said to speak to another of the volunteers whose husband updates the Sheffield Samaritans site (www.sheffieldsamaritans.org.uk), to get a link on there, which I have done.

"People Won't Donate If You're GIVING The Book Away"

Right, the site is finally totally finished and ready to be publicised!

In case you haven't visited yet, it is a very simple webpage that gives away a free copy of a book of mine. And if people like it, they can donate to Sheffield Samaritans, a charity that I am involved with who are in desperate need of funds to stay open.

You can read all about it at the site (www.morningtoncrescentbooks.com).

This blog is more a record for my own sake, of what I have done with the site (the memory's fading these days you know...) and how it is all going.

I will put regular totals up (assuming ANYONE donates of course!), but won't of course mention any names of donators, details etc without prior consent (oh, we're well versed in confidentiality at Samaritans!).

I am hugely encouraged by the response that the idea for the site received, from friends and fellow Samaritans.

It has been suggested before that we could do with an online way of people being able to donate funds, and this seemed like the ideal way to do it, giving people something back in return.

Many options were considered, including people buying the book for a price of their choosing, etc, etc, and the final method was chosen. I hope by giving the book away for free, even if people don't donate, they can be 'entertained' a little anyway!!

And the person will remain anonymous who said 'no one will donate if you're giving it away'... I like a challenge!
